Roland-5

The Roland 5 cyclocross frame pays tribute to Roland Liboton, who rode five ALAN framesets to victory, including four professional cyclocross world championships in the 1980s and one world title as an amateur in 1978. As the flagship model of the New World collection, this is truly a machine built for serious racing and the model chosen by the ALAN North America Elite Cyclocross Team.

Tech

This frame is fully constructed in Italy at the ALAN workshop and sent to Stellina Sport in the U.S. for final graphics and paint application. In this way, we can offer our customers the tried-and-true geometry and craftsmanship ALAN has perfected over nearly 40 years working exclusively with aluminum alloys and carbon fiber.

FRAME

The Roland 5 is made from Xtreme 7046 aluminum alloy triple-butted for lightness and uses oversized tubing for the down tube to lend strength and stiffness. The rear seat and chainstays are made from T-700 carbon fiber to add comfort and stiffness to the rear triangle to aid in power transfer. At 1250 grams, the Roland 5 is one of the lightest cyclocross frames on the market.

FORK

The Roland 5 comes matched with the superior performing Alpha Q CX20 carbon monocoque fork. Having tested nearly every cyclocross available, while also evaluating feedback from the ALAN North America Elite Cycling Team in 2008, we think this fork offers a great combination of stiffness, responsive handling, light weight and all-out performance.

FINISH

When it comes to finish, the Roland 5 is available in either a standard finish of brushed aluminum with graphics and clear coat, or full custom finish. The full custom option gives you limitless possibilities to make your ALAN frame an expression of your personality and preferences. Working directly with our painter, Canyon Smith, you’ll create your very own combination of color and design. While custom finishes are priced by material costs and time spent in the design and painting phases, the expense is well worth it. The resulting frame is a unique, hand-finished work of art made to endure the rigors of cyclocross and maintain its beauty.
